About the project

For the historic building of the Antonín Dvořák Theatre in Ostrava, one of the venues of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, we implemented a comprehensive modernization of the upperstage technology. The goal of the project was to replace outdated technical equipment that no longer met the demands of modern theatre operations.

The project was executed within the demanding schedule of the summer theatre shutdown. Prior to installing the new drives, structural reinforcement of the steel fly grid structure was required, increasing its total load capacity from the original 5 tonnes to 20 tonnes.

The core of our delivery consisted of silent gearless theatre drives. The absence of mechanical gearboxes eliminates, among other things, unwanted vibrations and reduces the acoustic footprint of the machinery to a minimum. The control system meets SIL 3 safety integrity level requirements.

Scope of our delivery
Complete design, manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning of upperstage machinery:
27 pcs motorized hoists with silent gearless drives (payload capacity: 500 kg/hoist, variable speed: 0–1 m/s), featuring active wire rope fleet compensation on the drum
20 pcs bobbin-type motorized hoists (payload capacity: 160 kg/hoist, variable speed: 0–0.35 m/s)
